five great wine books: read, relax & wine down

23 October 2020

A stormy autumn day in Europe or a beautiful spring day in Australia? Wherever you are in the world it is always a good time to read, relax and wine down. We have selected 5 wine books to keep you busy this autumn, winter, spring, or summer!

AIX Rosé Wine books

1. adventures on the wine route, kermit lynch

A Wine Buyer’s Tour of France. Kermit Lynch's recounting of his experiences on the wine route and in the wine cellars of France takes the reader through the Loire, Bordeaux, the Languedoc, Provence, Northern and Southern Rhone, and the Cote d'Or.

2. wine trials, lonely planet

Love travel? Enjoy wine? Discover the world’s most exciting wine-touring regions. Th e first book in Lonely Planet’s “Perfect Weekends” series, introduces the secret gems in well-known regions such as Napa and Sonoma, Tuscany, Burgundy and Rioja, and also explores off-the-beaten-path regions in Georgia, Greece and beyond.

3. the billionaire's vinegar, benjamin wallace

The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine. A New York Times bestseller, that tells the true story of a 1787 Château Lafite Bordeaux – supposedly owned by Thomas Jefferson – that sold for $156,000 at auction and of the eccentrics whose lives intersected with it.

4. the new vignerons, luis gutiérrez

A new generation of Spanish wine growers. This book contains 14 profiles of vignerons , each of them different, spanning most of the wine-producing regions of Spain. Their profiles talk about the history, landscape, vineyards, cuisine, passion and tradition of their region. You will not find tannins, anthocyanins, vintages, points or tasting notes in this book and Louis hardly talks about wine at all.

5. 24-hour wine expert, jancis robinson

Red, White, Rosé, Fizzy Screwcap v Cork, Wine Myths, Overprices Wines Bottle as Gift, How to Choose, Decoding Labels, Crowd Pleasers, Old v New World, Decanting, The Tasting Ritual, Matching Food and Wine… From a whistle-stop tour of regions and grapes to what terms like 'full-bodied' and 'nose' really mean, this myth-busting little book will ensure you will never panic when faced with a wine list or dinner party again.

Unfortunately, we only had space for 5 wine books in our top 5. For everyone who kept reading until the end we have one last recommendation. Cork Dork, written by Bianca Bosker. A Wine-Fueled Adventure Among the Obsessive Sommeliers and Big Bottle Hunters. We can highly recommend this New York Times Bestseller!
